Poor Dubya – Wrong again!

Posted by Henric C. Jensen on March 23, 2008

President Bush got his foreign policy bet wrong again. He supported Musharraf during and after the elections even though the people of his country had rejected him. Bush’s blind support for Musharraf during Pakistan’s blackest days when he illegally suspended the constitution, deposed and arrested the Chief Justice and sixty other judges of the Supreme and High Courts. The resulted the lawyers community starting a massive anti-Musharraf campaign in the country. Even those horrific pictures on our television screens showing black suited lawyers being beaten up and mishandled did not cause the Bush Administration to re-examine its policy. This has certainly not endeared the US to many in Pakistan.

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan – Embattled President Pervez Musharraf hailed the start of a “new era of real democracy” in Pakistan and vowed Sunday to support an incoming government led by foes bent on diminishing his powers.

“The journey toward democracy and development we started eight years ago is now reaching its destination,” said the former army strongman, who seized power in a 1999 coup. “A new era of real democracy has begun.”

The U.S.-backed leader was speaking at a military parade celebrating Pakistan’s national day. Flatbed trucks rolled past his viewing stand displaying pieces of Pakistan’s nuclear-armed arsenal: camouflage-painted Shaheen missiles about 40 feet long.

Poor Dubya! But then his advisers haven’t been too good, have they? Besides, what is to be expected from a totalitarian leader? War makes bad bed fellows.

Anyone else think the hypocrisy is glaring? Pakistan has not been invaded or threatened by the US for having Nuke Capability, but Iraq and Iran have. This makes me think that not only is the US in Iraq because the oil, but because of the ISLAMIC opposition to the American Imperialism, which in the mind of anyone from the area of the Old Ottoman Empire, must be just a continuation of French and British Domination. G-d Help us. It’s good that George W Bush is no Richard Lion Heart, although he is just as power-sick and fanatically Xian.

Will the True Left leave Obama?

Posted by Henric C. Jensen on March 23, 2008

“What always comes into my mind when in this context is how my father would bully me, berate me and beat me and then insist I was not to cry, not to resent, and then he’d hit me again. — because I cried OR because I did not cry.I felt such identification with what was being presented [by Reverend Wright] that I never felt the object of it. As well, the people all around me didn’t act as if I were the object either. Nor was this by any means the entire service. The service, the address, the sermon rolled, it really rolled, from abject hell to the sublimity of paradise. And I was caught on the wave.”
This is what I sense also, when watching the entire sermons by Reverend Jeremiah Wright. An identification. Not based on color but on similar experiences of oppression and abuse. I somehow cannot stop myself from thinking that all the bruhaha around the clips presented by the Right-Wing Media, is more based in that the arrow Rev. Wright is aiming at them hit home, and hit home really hard. So they try and divert attention from what is he saying and why, so they won’t be implicated in any way. Instead they implicate Rev. Wright and Barack Obama, i.e their victims. The question is, will the true Left buy this and withdraw their support from Barack? In that case the Right and their Minions [Hillary Clinton] will have won. That should be reason enough to vote Barack Obama into the White House.

Clinton – Conservative at heart?

Posted by Henric C. Jensen on March 23, 2008

“There’s a reason Hillary Clinton has remained relatively silent during the flap over intemperate remarks by Barack Obama’s former pastor, Jeremiah Wright. When it comes to unsavory religious affiliations, she’s a lot more vulnerable than Obama. You can find all about it in a widely under-read article in the September 2007 issue of Mother Jones, in which Kathryn Joyce and Jeff Sharlet reported that “through all of her years in Washington, Clinton has been an active participant in conservative Bible study and prayer circles that are part of a secretive Capitol Hill group known as “The “Fellowship,” also known as The Family.”
Hillary Clinton
The Family…the most conservative, power focused and fundamentalist Xian Cult there is, and Hillary Clinton has been an “elite member” for 15 years. Interesting, don’t you think? Yet, as I said about the Red Herring the Konservative, Korporate and Kapitalist Fox News is trying to create to derail Barack Obama’s campaign, I can’t help but think that Mother Jones and the Nation is trying the same by publishing this. On the other hand, apparently Hillary Clinton’s involvement with the Family has been covered up by someone. Let’s not forget that Clinton has been closer than most to the Power, and it’s associates within the Konservative, Korporate and Kapitalist Organizations than most – she is also the only woman to get into High Power Politics as a result of her husband having been the President of the US. So there would plenty of “behind the scenes” people to keep her membership of The Family out of the Public Eye.
Given this, Red Herring or not, it is interesting that Clinton’s Campaign has not jumped on the bandwagon in the wake of the Wright-Obama disclosure. Also given that Konservative, Korporate and Kapitalist Fox News, which is exactly that; Konservative, Korporate and Kapitalist, it’s notable that THEY have not picked up this – after all politically they would be behind John McCain. So something is definitely fishy here. My guess is that despite being a candidate for the Democrats, Hillary is indeed as conservative as can be.

What did Reverend Wright actually say?

Posted by Henric C. Jensen on March 23, 2008

I decided to do some research in the wake of the allegations of racism against Barack Obama, and waded through a whole lot of Sermons given by Reverend Jeremiah Wright. I also found the videos that has been circulating on the Net. See for yourself.

“The government gives them the drugs [referring to the Iran-Contra Affair][15], builds bigger prisons, passes a three-strike law and then wants us to sing ‘God Bless America.’ No, no, no, God damn America, that’s in the Bible for killing innocent people…God damn America for treating our citizens as less than human. God damn America for as long as she acts like she is God and she is supreme”

in its context – do you find anything RACIST in this?

“We bombed Hiroshima, we bombed Nagasaki, and we nuked far more than the thousands in New York and the Pentagon, and we never batted an eye…and now we are indignant, because the stuff we have done overseas is now brought back into our own front yards. America’s chickens are coming home to roost.”

in its context – do you find anything RACIST or Anti-semitic in this? I don’t. In fact I agree with a lot of what the Reverend is saying. He is full of criticism of the American Government’s treat of people of color (all people of color, mind you) throughout it’s history. Strong, harsh, but then it has always been one of the obligations of the clergy to whip the Government. That has always been the prerogative of the people of Faith. In fact, in my opinion, if people of Faith don’t speak up on behalf of the poor, the disadvantaged, the down-trodden and the hopeless, they are failing the Creed they profess.

I can understand how f.i Fox News, which is constantly brown-nosing and patting the Konservative, Korporate and Kapitalist America on the back, would pull out snippets here and snippets there of the sermons to try and discredit Barack Obama. They would, wouldn’t they? Think about it. The big News Tycoons always do that, don’t they?

I think this whole Wright-Obama business is a Red Herring, an attempt to derail Obama’s campaign and force him to debate the issue of what Jeremiah Wright said, rather than the issues of where America is going.
