Oy Vey!

Posted by Henric C. Jensen on May 16, 2006

It’s all my Wife’s fault. She misled me – she has been spending loads of time Blogging, seeming to have a lot of fun…and she showed me this wonderful felt Polar Bear someone had made and had blogged about – I had to comment, and now I am here, blogging. Oy Vey! the trickery of Wives…Pirke Avot – Chapters/Tradition of the Fathers teaches: Yosi ben Yochanan of Jerusalem said: Let your house be wide open and let the poor be members of thy household; and do not talk much with women. This was said about one’s own wife; how much more so about the wife of one’s neighbor. Therefore the sages have said: He who talks too much with women brings evil upon himself and neglects the study of the Torah and will in the end inherit Gehenna.” Now, the Sages meant that to say that one shouldn’t neglect one’s Torah studies and engage in idle or possibly flirtatious interaction with women…but we see here what it leads to from a more humorous angle – I spend an entire Afternoon and Evening “Tinkering” with source-coding and uploading images…Oy Vey!

Oh, btw – this is me
– photo taken this very day, I could have called this Blog “That Fat Little Yid”, but I am so tired of all the ‘Fat-Talk’ all over the Net, it’s so brainless, so devoid of Human Feeling that it should in fact be illegal to comment on people’s weight, over- or otherwise.

It amounts to “cursing the deaf”. But more about “cursing the deaf” later…

Shalom!

    ‘ello Dov 😉
I understand how you felt, I had a blog for a short time at “Yahoo’s 360degrees” then, after a few days, erased it in fear (remember, I jump at my own shadow at times 😉 ).
Good luck with your new venture (whatever luck you could have from it, I guess).

That’s why I keep it slightly lighter than other things I write, Mike.

This is what I wanted ‘Web Paging’ to be – dash in post and dash out.

I am sorry you felt you had to delete your Blog.

Fear is one of the most powerful “negative” motivators there is.
Still, a blog may be theraputic for me if I would not be either #1: the only one to see it or #2: if I didn’t have my personal info out there and a sign pointing at me saying: Here sits a sucker!” 🙂

Couldn’t you just see it as a column? I do – as you can see from my bloggings, I am being not very revealing, and it still gives me loads of satisfaction.

I just write what come to mind during a day, but try to make it fit a chain of Topics – as you can see from my Bloggings here – I try and connect my next blog to the previous one through little hints.

I am not saying that you have to blog, Mike, but just doing it without being too serious about it might turn out to be great fun and satisfaction?

“…just doing it without being so serious about it…”

With all the laughing I do at times, and teasing and such, it is hard for some to imagine that, most of the time, I am dead serious (in fact, the doc has told me to lighten up now and then or I will be seriously dead). Tisn’t easy…I have built this person I am, armoured and concealed, behind an inpenitrable wall of knowledge, so I do not get hurt. But it is true, laughter is only really appreciated after one learns to cry.
A Simon and Garfunkle song fits here: “I have my books, and my poetry to protect me, I am sheilded in my armor. Hiding in my room, safe within my womb, I touch no one and no one touches me. I am a rock…and a rock feels no pain, and an island never cries.”
Only recently, through the net, have I started to break out of my cocoon.
